Knitted Neck Gator
We recently heard about a military wife who has set a goal of providing a knitted neck gator for every member of her husband's unit by Christmas.... that's 155. Knowing she can't knit that many on her own, she has asked for help. Linda has contacted her and offered her support. We will be stocking the recommended yarn and collecting the completed gators here at the shop for delivery.
If you're interested in helping, here is the pattern. It's also included on this attached flyer:
Materials: Preferred choice
- 1 skein Cascade 220 SuperWash, Color # 875
(can be purchased at Linda's Knit N' Stitch, Silverdale, WA) - Tapestry Needle
- Needle: US 7 or 4.5 mm (US 8 or 5.5 mm)
Directions:
- Cast on: 120 (or 116 sts if using US 8) Stitches
loosely. - Join, but be sure you don’t twist! This will be a simple 2 x2 rib.
All Rounds: K2, Purl 2. - Continue until you finish the skein (about 8.5 - 9 inches), saving enough
for bind off. - Bind off loosely in pattern and then weave in the ends.
Viola! You now have a military neck gator.
If you would like to keep track of the project's progress, I've provided a link to her blog.
